The Old Barn is conveniently situated between the Market Towns of Ashbourne, Leek, Buxton, Bakewell and the spa towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath with its famous cable car ride and show caves.

Ashbourne is our local town just four miles away.  A picturesque town at the gateway to Dovedale and the Peak District National Park.  The town is famous amongst other things for its annual Shrovetide Football Match, its origins dating back to Elizabethan times.  The town has a wealth of character and has many facilities to offer notably the many Antique shops.

The beautiful Derbyshire villages and towns nestling in the hollows of the Peak Park are well worth a visit.  We are surrounded by beautiful countryside right from the front door and within walking distance of the Stepping Stones over the River Dove at Dovedale,

Why not explore the Derbyshire countryside from the disused railway trails that provide miles of mostly flat, traffic free routes for walkers, cyclists and horse riders through rolling hills with interesting historical and geological diversions along the way.  The Cycle Hire Centres are conveniently located next to the trails with our nearest centres at Waterhouses, three miles to the west or four miles to the East at Ashbourne.

Within a few minutes drive from us you will find Tissington Hall, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and a large number of National Trust properties such Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall-The National Trust Museum of Childhood.

For the more adventurous there are a range of outdoor pursuits from climbing and caving to hang-gliding around the Peak Park.  Sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and fly fishing for brown trout are all available at Carsington Water.

Other family attractions that you might visit are the theme parks at Matlock Bath and Alton Towers and The National Tramway Museum at Crich.
