Welcome to 'The Old Barn' holiday accommodation at Common End Farm, Swinscoe, Ashbourne. We are a family run Bed and Breakfast offering guest accommodation in a self contained converted barn over 250 years old and which was part of a working farm up until 2000. The nature of the barn conversion also lends itself to be hired as a complete unit so if you prefer greater flexibility why not hire the barn on a self catering basis (details of the facilities can be found on the Accommodation page) We are located in this quiet and beautiful corner of the Peak District National Park on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border, 4 miles to the West of the picturesque market town of Ashbourne, amongst other things famous for its annual Shrovetide Football Match. Its location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside. A short walk direct from the barn takes you across a quiet and little used footpath leading to Blore, Ilam and into Dovedale. Once there why not walk the short distance to the summit of Thorpe Cloud and enjoy the spectacular views across the River Dove and beyond. For the more adventurous, Alton Towers is only a short drive and has everything to keep the children amused. Carsington Water is also a popular local attraction and offers biking, a variety of water sports, nature trails and the visitor centre. We do hope you will visit us and look forward to seeing you.
